My Favorite Tools, Services, and Systems to Streamline Busy Days
When life feels like a never-ending list of to-dos, it’s the time-saving hacks for moms—the tools, routines, and little systems—that can make all the difference. As a mom juggling home, family, work, and always looking to carve a bit of time for myself, I’ve found that a handful of products and services truly make my days smoother, my home more organized, and even my cooking more joyful.
Here’s a peek into what’s working for me right now—no fluff, just real-life solutions—and a few thoughtful alternatives that may also fit your needs.

Time-Saving Cleaning Tools Every Mom Should Know About
1. Roomba Robot Vacuum
Every morning like clockwork, our Roomba makes its rounds through the kitchen and family room. These are the highest-traffic areas in our home, and daily vacuuming keeps things feeling fresh. I love setting it on a schedule so I never have to think about it again. Our older model has been a trusty helper for years, but I’m eyeing an upgrade that also includes mopping—such a smart next step.
Alternative to consider: If you’re looking for an affordable option, check out the Eufy Robovac—it gets great reviews and won’t break the bank.

2. Dyson Cordless Handheld Vacuum
This one is my kitchen MVP. It’s what I reach for to clean flour after my husband bakes (his sourdough is delicious but messy!) and the inevitable crumbs that collect under our dining table. I also love using it on the stairs thanks to the handy attachments and cordless design—no more lugging a heavy vacuum.
Alternative to consider: The Shark is lightweight, powerful, and sleek for everyday messes.

3. WiFi-Connected Appliances
I wasn’t sure I’d love smart appliances, but they’ve made household routines a lot easier. I can start the dishwasher, preheat the oven, or get cycle alerts from the washer, all from an app. It saves time and helps me multitask without forgetting something’s running.
Alternative to consider: If you’re not ready to upgrade to smart appliances, a simple digital timer can also help you stay on top of laundry and oven tasks.

4. Thermomix
The Thermomix is a workhorse in my kitchen. I use it for everything from breakfast smoothies, cakes and bread, soups, and dinner prep. It connects with the Cookidoo app, where I save recipes and plan weekly meals. The integration with Instacart even helps build my grocery list with just a few taps, making my life so much easier.
Alternative to consider: The Instant Pot Duo Crisp offers a range of functions like pressure cooking, air frying, and more—perfect for meal prep on a budget.
5. Cuckoo Rice Maker & Pressure Cooker
I’ll admit I mainly use it for rice and my famous “can’t live without” black beans—but I do that every week! The best part is how it keeps the rice warm and perfect for days, and I never worry about burning a pot again. It’s truly a set-it-and-forget-it appliance.
An alternative to consider: The Zojirushi Micom Rice Cooker is also excellent, especially for families who regularly eat rice.

6. Glass Meal Prepping Containers
We switched entirely to glass containers many years ago, and boy, do we put them to use!
I learned a long time ago that if I’m going to cook 1 pound of meat, I might as well cook 2 or 3 and freeze them for the future.
I also batch cook proteins, such as chicken, ground beef, and beef stew meat, to use throughout the week in salads, burritos, or sandwiches. It saves me tons of time, the boys always have something to grab and make a quick meal, and it prevents dinner-time stress.
Alternative to consider: Pyrex or Ello glass container sets are great for storage and can be used from the fridge to the oven.

7. Instacart + Whole Foods with Prime
This is a practice that started during the pandemic in our household, and because it saves me so much time, I’ve never gone back to doing the groceries. We basically shop from three places: our local supermarket, Whole Foods, and Costco.
As I plan the menu in the Cookidoo app, I add the items I need to my Instacart or Amazon app for WholeFoods. To avoid buying what we already have, I check the pantry, fridge, and freezer as I plan the menu, and then schedule the deliveries to arrive at times that are close enough to allow me to batch this task and get it out of the way.
I also schedule recurring Amazon deliveries for pet food, air filters, and household staples.
The menu planning has saved us a lot of money by avoiding take-out food, and the shopping has basically eliminated last-minute runs to the supermarket.
Alternative to consider: Walmart+ is a great option for fast grocery delivery and competitive pricing, especially for larger families.
