Organize Your Linen Closet for the Holidays
A beautiful holiday table starts with gorgeous table linens. Decide on how you’d like to decorate your dinner table over the holidays. You could keep it simple and classic with a white tablecloth and gold table runner, or you could make it more festive and employ the bright colors of the season.
{Organize your linen closet for the season}However you plan to decorate, make time now to organize your linen closet and check your tablecloths, cloth napkins and table runners for any damage or staining. Wash all your table linens to ensure they’re clean, spotless and ready to go. After they’re laundered, iron each item so it’s crisp and wrinkle-free. Fold your linens neatly to prevent wrinkling and store them until you’re ready.
While you’re at it, check on the other linens in your house. The holidays cause an increased demand on all your household linens, including bed sheets, bath towels, blankets and kitchen towels. Take a quick inventory of all your linens, especially if you plan on hosting overnight guests.
- Towels: You’ll need a few extra bath towels, hand towels and washcloths for overnight guests. In addition, you’ll want extra kitchen towels and oven mitts to help with the increased demand in your kitchen.
- Bed linens: Stock each guest bedroom with extra sheets, comforters, throw blankets and pillows. To account for personal preferences, supply 2 pillows for each overnight guest, one soft and one firm.
